AdmitLesson 13 Principle & Step:

Principle 4:  Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.  Happy are the pure in heart.  Matthew 5:8

Step 5:  We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  James 5:16

 

Lesson 13 – Highlights:

Why admit my wrongs?

  1. We gain healing
  2. We gain freedom
  3. We gain support

How do I choose someone?

  1. Choose someone that you trust, respect and that is the same sex
  2. Confirm the potential sponsor has completed Principle 4, Step 4, and Step 5
  3. Schedule a three-hour appointment to share your inventory without interruption

Guidelines for meeting

  1. Start with asking for courage, humility, and honesty
  2. Read Principle 4
  3. Keep your sharing balanced
  4. End in prayer with thanksgiving

Lesson 13 – Questions:

  1. In principle 4 we are asked to give our inventory 3 times. Who are we to confess it to and why?
  2. Most of us find it easier to confess our wrongs to ourselves and God. We seem to have more difficulty in sharing them with another person.  What is the most difficult part for you?  Why?
  3. What is your biggest fear of sharing your inventory with another person?
  4. List 3 people with whom you are considering sharing your inventory. List the pros and cons of each person.  Circle your final choice.
  5. Pick a quiet location to share your inventory. List 3 places and circle the best one.
