 Lesson 5 Principle & Step:

Principle 3:  Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control.  Happy are the meek.  Matthew 5:5

Step 3:  We made a decision to turn our lives and our will over to the care of God.  Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.  Romans 12:1

 Lesson 5 Highlights:

  • Trust: Trust is putting your faith into action that God is actually in control of your life
  • Understand: Relying on your own understanding is partly the reason you are where you are
  • Repent: Repenting is not turning from sin, it is turning to God and His grace covers our sin
  • New life: Accepting Jesus Christ as your savior, you die to your sin and are birthed into new life

REMEMBER – Turing your LIFE over to Christ is a once-in-a-lifetime commitment.  Turing your WILL over to him is a daily recommitment.

Principle 3 Prayer – Dear God, I have tried to do it all by myself, on my own power, and I have failed.  Today, I want to turn my life over to you.  I ask You to be my Lord and Savior.  You are the one and only Jesus Christ!  I ask that You help me start to think less about me and my will.  I want to daily turn my will over to you, to daily seek your direction and wisdom for my life.  Please continue to help me overcome my hurts, habits, and hang-ups and may that victory over them help others as they see Your power at work in changing my life.  Help me to do Your will.  In Jesus name Amen!

Is your life under control?  If so, who’s control is it under?  What circumstances have possibly swayed your life out of control?  Do you believe if God controlled your life things would improve?  If so, how?  Click on my podcast below and let’s answer these questions together.

Lesson 5 – Questions:

  1. What is stopping you from asking Jesus Christ into your heart? If you are a Christ follower describe when you asked Jesus into your heart.
  2. How has relying on your “own understanding” caused problems in your life? Be specific.
  3. What does “repent” mean to you? What do you need to repent of?
  4. What does the declaration of “not guilty” found in Romans 3:22 mean to you?
  5. When you turn your life over to Jesus Christ, you have a “new life” (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). What does new life mean to you?
  6. What does the Principle 3 prayer mean to you?

Which question above was the hardest to answer?  Why?  Be specific.  Leave a comment below or share with a friend.
